WoW!!

Ahhh…Sand, how do you describe it? is it that magical thing that feels so good on your toes? Is it that fine substance that feels so soft on a pristine beach in Mexico? Or is it the tiny rocks children use to make castles?

Well Kinda, it’s actually what a couple designers in Denmark use to make that wonderful stuff called clothes. Sand is a fashion house based in Copenhagen. Shortly after discovering their existence in a British GQ magazine, I watched their fashion shows on line (which they have conveniently put on their site). Upon further research I discovered that they are a family run business (which was no easy task since their site is a designer clothing website which incidently are made for the sole purpose of being difficult to nagivate for the Chronciler who felt like he was with Captian Nemo 20,000 leagues under the sea), Soren Sand Creator and CEO, Lene Sand Creative Director and Designer, they both design though their relationships and designing jobs are not clear (to be honest with you I have no idea whether Lene and Soren are married, or siblings, DAMN Scandinavians).

Sand was founded in 1989 by Soren Sand. It didn’t really get international recognition until 2004-2005 partly due to their 2005 release of their Pink Label. Sand is a big name in the UK, Germany, and the Scandinavian Countries. They have in the past few years set their sights on Austria, they even managed to grab one of Austria’s biggest movie stars Alex Dimitriades.

Now let’s talk about clothing…their black label is nice… but it’s boring, now doing get me wrong, it’s not bad, but it doesn’t really shout original or amazing. If Hugo Boss is powerful and manly, Armani is edgy and simple, Prada is boyish and a little coquettish, then what is Sand? Can Sand really compete with these names? Well, Gents… it can with Pink Label. Sand is one of those companies that specializes in quality fabics and sharp design. Their Pink label though is amazing. it’s puncy, colourful, a little urban, and certainly fresh.
